Brooks & Dunn Enlist Lanco for ‘Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up for Nothing’ Reboot [LISTEN]

From Brooks & Dunn's Borderline album, "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up for Nothing" was a Top 20 country hit. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn co-wrote and co-produced the track with Don Cook; Brooks sings lead on the original track.

""Mama Don't" is a straight-ahead, rockin' kind of thing, and we kinda just pumped it up a little bit," Brooks shares, noting that Lanco's Brandon Lancaster was ready to offer more than just his vocals to the track: "We did a couple of takes, and we're just sitting in the room, and he picked up a guitar and he did this little cool descending riff on the acoustic," Brooks recalls, "and Ronnie picked up on it immediately."

Adds Dunn, "You could tell when he walked in, he was listening with a producer's ear ... and he did a great job."

Brooks & Dunn's collaboration with Lanco is one of 12 songs on Reboot, the album that the duo is set to release this spring. The projects features duets of some of their biggest hits with today's hottest country artists. "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up for Nothing" follows the release of collaborations with Kane Brown on "Believe," Luke Combs on "Brand New Man" and Jon Pardi on "My Next Broken Heart." The album will also include duets with Kacey Musgraves, Thomas Rhett, Brett Young, Ashley McBryde, Midland, Brothers Osborne, Cody Johnson and Tyler Booth.

Reboot is due out on April 5; the album will be Brooks & Dunn's first release since 2007's Cowboy Town. The duo announced in 2009 that they were splitting up, after more than 20 years together; their Last Rodeo Tour concluded on Sept. 3, 2010, at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, but they reunited five years later for a still-running Las Vegas residency with Reba McEntire.

The year 2019 is shaping up to be a big one for Brooks & Dunn: They will also be the subject of a Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit later this year.
