Dan + Shay performed their CMA Awards-nominated song for Single of the Year "Tequila" on Wednesday night (Nov. 14) and once again reminded everyone that these two have two of the best voices in country music.

The performance was just one of the many highlights of the show, thanks to the song itself and Shay Mooney's driving last note, but also because the piano Mooney was playing during the performance went up in flames at the end of the performance. No worries, we are pretty sure it was supposed to do that.

The country duo were not only nominated for Single of the Year during the 2018 CMAs, but also up for Vocal Duo of the Year alongside Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line, Maddie & Tae and Sugarland.

Earlier in the week, Dan + Shay expressed their excitement about the awards show, saying that they were really looking forward to actually get the chance to perform on the awards show live.

“It’s kind of one of those rites of passages,” Mooney remarked in a recent interview. “We’ve been to the awards a few times now, and it’s just gonna be a very cool thing to be able to actually perform one of our own songs.”

The performance took place in the first hour of the much-loved awards show, which always seems to get off to a great start thanks to hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Once again, the two had everyone in the crowd in hysterics with their always anticipated monologue.
