Singer-songwriter David Wilcox is premiering the inspiring new music video for his song "We Make the Way By Walking" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

Filmed across the country, Wilcox's "We Make the Way By Walking" music video utilizes footage from Rocky Fork State Park in East Tennessee, California's Big Basin State Park and Asheville, N.C.'s Warren Wilson College. The video culminates with footage, shot in San Francisco, Calif., of January's Women's March, packed with protest signs and women walking the streets in support of equality.

According to Wilcox, "We Make the Way By Walking" is meant to be viewed in two ways: as a simple, wholesome tune about taking one's own path through life, but also as a strong political call to action — one that encourages people to embrace those who are different from them and vocally advocate to make the world a better place.

Wilcox, a folk artist and songwriter, has recorded a wide range of eclectic works, including an album of religious poetry set to music. "We Make the Way By Walking" appears on his most recent record, The View From the Edge, released on May 11. It's the follow-up to 2014's Blaze, and is described by Wilcox as a reflection of "four years of thinking, writing, crafting, playing and life."
