Watch Eric Church Cover ‘A Natural Woman’ for Aretha Franklin
Eric Church wasted no time honoring the "Queen of Soul," the late Aretha Franklin, during his Sunday night (Aug. 19) concert in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The country star selected Franklin's 1967 hit "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" as his show-opening song.
Readers can press play above to watch Church's "A Natural Woman" cover, which came during a headlining set at the Country Thunder Alberta festival. Standing alone in a spotlight on a darkened stage, Church accompanies himself on acoustic guitar for the song; he then transitions into his own song "Smoke a Little Smoke."
In the wake of Franklin's death, several country singers have offered up tribute performances in honor her lasting impact on music. Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert are just a couple of the other artists who included homages to the legendary singer in their recent setlists.
At the time of her death on Aug. 16, Franklin was 76. She was reported to be "gravely ill" earlier in the week, and died at her home in Detroit, Mich. She charted more than 100 singles on the Billboard charts and won a total of 18 Grammy Awards.
Franklin was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is remembered for her massive catalog of iconic songs, including "Respect," "I Never Loved a Man (the Way That I Love You)," "Think" and many others.
