Surprise! Hannah Mulholland of the country trio Runaway June married her fiancé, Ian Jay, in an intimate, nine-guest ceremony over the weekend (Oct. 6-7). In order to mark the event, the singer shared an Instagram post of herself and her new husband against the backdrop of the California redwood forest where the ceremony took place.

According to the post's caption, the small event was exactly what the couple wanted for their special day. "We had a beautiful day in the California redwoods with our immediate family," Mulholland writes. "A rainy morning hike, ceremony in the forest with our family playing live music, followed by an amazing, local vegan dinner prepared especially for us...

"9 guests, 2 days and 1 epic celebration," she continues.

Mulholland announced her engagement to Jay in September of 2017, after the couple celebrated six years together in mid-July of that year. Jay is a drummer and cinematographer based out of Los Angeles and Nashville. Mulholland's new husband also shared his thoughts on the wedding on social media, writing "Yesterday I married my best friend and the most beautiful soul I've ever met! We had the most incredible day and one that we'll cherish forever...we can't imagine a better day."

In 2017, Mulholland told The Boot that one of the things she loves about her partner is his understanding of her career's hectic schedule. "It takes a very special personal to be gone so much, because there is this level of independence that both people in the relationship need to have," she explained. "...But it's challenging, because you miss them, and sometimes you're gone for a really long time..."

That bond and mutual understanding of the need to be independent will serve the couple well as Runaway June embarks on a busy year ahead. The group released their debut EP in September of 2018, which includes the single, "Buy My Own Drinks." The group has also been tapped by Carrie Underwood to join the country superstar's Cry Pretty Tour 360 alongside Maddie & Tae.
