American Idol finalist Laine Hardy called on country star Jon Pardi for a collaboration during Sunday night's (May 19) Season 17 finale. Together, the pair performed Pardi's fan favorite, "Dirt on My Boots," followed by another Pardi hit, "Night Shift."

Pardi and Hardy clearly had a blast onstage together, all smiles as they goofed off and danced around the stage. The pair handily brought the crowd in on the fun, too, with audience members waving their arms in the arm and cheering by the end of the performance.

Eighteen-year-old Hardy was one of three finalists headed into the American Idol season finale. The Louisiana native auditioned for Season 16 of the show in 2018 but didn't make the cut; then, for this season, he returned to the audition room to play guitar for his friend, Ashton Gill, and was given a ticket to Hollywood after the judges convinced him to perform himself.

Pardi, meanwhile, has spent his year on tour with Dierks Bentley, on Bentley's 2019 Burning Man Tour. He's at work on new music as well, the follow-up project to 2016's California Sunrise.

American Idol has been renewed for an 18th season, its third on ABC, after its cancellation by Fox. Specific details for the new season have not yet been revealed.
