Loretta Lynn had to miss the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony on Wednesday (Oct. 17), and now she's revealed that she had to be hospitalized.

According to Billboard, news of Lynn's health first surfaced in a Facebook post from Michael Lynn, who claims to be a relative. Radar Online first reported that he posted to Facebook in a since-deleted message on Saturday (Oct. 20), claiming Lynn was in the hospital with "serious issues" and that she needed fans' prayers.

The 86-year-old country legend turned to Facebook herself later in the day to explain, "After a brief hospital visit, I’m feeling better now and enjoying a weekend of resting up at home."

Lynn's daughter, Peggy, revealed via a Facebook post of her own that the original source for Radar Online's story was false, saying, "Fake news story going around from some guy posing to be a family member or posing to be close to family ... I so wished these news outlets would check their sources before running with gossip."

She also confirmed that Lynn had been ill, but was feeling better, writing, "Thank y'all for your prayers mom did have a really horrible stomach flu this last week. She is home and doing nicely recovering."

Lynn has faced a variety of health challenges over the past year. She suffered a stroke in May 2017, and broke her hip in January of 2018.

She was forced to delay her new album, Wouldn't It Be Great, due to her health, but finally released it on Sept. 28. She was slated to receive CMT's Artist of a Lifetime award in person on Wednesday, but in her absence, her longtime friend Sissy Spacek, who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Lynn in the 1980 biopic Coal Miner's Daughter, accepted the award on her behalf, giving a tearful speech.
