Neal McCoy had one of the most memorable sets of Country Jam 2016, but before he took the stage on Saturday (June 18), he led thousands in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance.

As McCoy previously explained to Taste of Country, he says the Pledge of Allegiance every day on Facebook. Sometimes he enlists his famous friends to join in — he recently posted a video saying the pledge with Charley Pride.

"I've been on 15 USO tours all over the world," he shares. "This hat was given to me by a kid last summer. Him and his gunner came to see me at a show in Afghanistan. His gunner was killed a week later and he gave me this hat last year and said, 'This is his hat. Would you wear it?' And I said it will be the only hat I will ever wear. I wear it and I say the pledge of allegiance with it and I take it off and it's the flag that I use every morning for the Pledge of Allegiance."

He then took off his hat one more time and said the Pledge of Allegiance with a crowd of thousands of country fans in Grand Junction, Colo.

Throughout McCoy's energetic set, he did a surprising heavy metal version of Sam Hunt's "House Party." It's something fans enjoyed and McCoy said he decided to cover because it's "a great song."

"We took it and made it a little more aggressive. It's kind of confusing to people but hopefully you'll like it. And if you don't, just leave," he joked. "We don't have a set list. We just wing it and have fun with the audience. If you've never seen us before, if you're ADD you'll really enjoy this show."
