Rising country star Riley Green has a Top 25 hit with his debut single "There Was This Girl," and now he has a music video to accompany it, thanks to his fans.

"We invited a few hundred fans to the video shoot," Green told Taste of Country shortly after putting the finishing the fan-inspired video last month. "We actually let the fans shoot the video, and literally passed the camera from fan to fan."

Filmed at a venue in his home state of Alabama, the video shows a legion of Green’s fans cheering him on as he performs the song, which tells the story of a growing relationship. Luckily for Green, no acting was required in the making of this music video — he's "not a big actor," he admits.

"I just wanted to be myself. It was less cheesy that way."

Of course, filming the low-key video did become a bit of a reality check for the former college football player. "It’s sort of crazy how a 30 second clip can take five minutes," he says.

Currently out on his Outlaws Like Us Tour, Green says the process of becoming a household name has been quite overwhelming to not only him, but his parents.

“It’s hard for me to get it in my head that I have a Top 25 song,” Green says, "But for my parents, it’s almost been too much. I remember telling them that I got my deal with Big Machine (Label Group) and they were like, ‘Do you want more mac and cheese?’" he recalls, laughing. "It’s almost as if it was too much to comprehend."

They're getting used to the idea, though. "They have always just been so supportive of me," he says. "They are my biggest fans."
