Runaway June singer Jennifer Wayne is a Californa native, and she posted to social media to offer prayers as the fires raging in California bore down on her family's home on Saturday (Nov. 10).

"Praying for all the people and animals in the California fires," she writes on Instagram, sharing a news photo of the inferno. "My family is safe, but looking like our home is not. I’m just devastated. Very thankful for the firefighters being heroes out there. Feeling helpless on the other side of the country."

Wayne also turned to Twitter to share more thoughts, calling the situation "heartbreaking."

The 36-year-old singer was raised in Southern California, and she is part of Hollywood royalty. Her grandfather was the legendary actor John Wayne, and she competed on The Amazing Race before pursuing country music full-time. She was previously in a trio called Stealing Angels before joining Naomi Cooke and Hannah Mulholland to form Runaway June, who recently released a new single, "Buy My Own Drinks."

CNN reports that nine people have died in the Californa fires as of Saturday morning, and more than 250,000 have been evacuated as multiple fires rage in Northern and Southern California. CNN's meteorologists say high winds and low humidity make it difficult for firefighters to contain the fires, which are already categorized as the worst in the state's modern history. Nearly 200,000 acres are reported to have already burned.

The fires struck California the same week that a mass shooting left 12 people dead at the Borderline Bar & Gill in nearby Thousand Oaks.
