As controversial as NBC's 'Smash' may have been, many were sad to see the series close out its two year run in recent weeks, even as ousted creator Theresa Beck continued to blast the series. Thankfully, all is not lost as breakout star Megan Hilty will be right back on NBC this fall joining 'Smash' guest star Sean Hayes in new sitcom 'Sean Saves the World.'

Via TVLine, Hilty will fill the role vacated by Lindsay Sloane, that of Sean's best friend and co-worker Liz. The new three-camera series premieres Thursdays this fall, and features Hayes as a father attempting to both parent the teenage daughter who just moved in and appease a temperamental new boss at the same time. The series also features Linda Lavin ('Alice' ), Echo Kellum ('Ben and Kate'), Thomas Lennon ('Reno 911'), Samantha Isler and former 'Chuck' supporting player Vik Sahay.

Hayes and Hilty had previously gotten close on NBC's 'Smash,' when Hayes joined his former 'Will & Grace' colleague Debra Messing to play an influential yet neurotic Hollywood actor whose performance derailed a musical of 'Dangerous Liasons.'

Well, what say you 'Smash' fans? Will Hilty's casting prove a fitting 'Smash' consolation price? Tell us if you'll watch 'Sean Saves the World' in the comments!
