As a state, Texas ranks in the middle of the happiest states in America. Wallethub ranks the "Most and Least Happy States in America" and has Texas at #18, based on their findings (Utah tops the list, and West Virginia is at the bottom).
The Happy-O-Meter is based on three main categories:
"Emotional and Physical Well-Being" (Texas ranked #30), based on:

- Obesity, etc.
"Work Rank" (Texas is #7) is based on:
- Average hours worked
- Job security
- Commute time
- Income growth rate
- Long-term unemployment rate
"Community, Environment & Recreational Activities" (Texas is #22) is measured by:
- Divorce rate, as well as children in married families
- Population growth rate
- Safest states to live in Ranking
- Weather
- Volunteerism rate
The study shows that Texas does not rank in the top 5 of any "happy" categories, and are tied for fourth in the "unhappy" category of "most hours worked and 5th in least safe places to live.
