Sammy Kershaw just released a brand new song in honor of the late George Jones. The song is called "The Route I Took (A Tibute To George Jones)" and he sounds so much like George Jones that it's kind of creepy. Kershaw has been busy in the Christian Country Music side of the business, while Kershaw may have been working on his latest Christian album he stayed in touch Jones, often collaborating on some music writing.
May 8, 2013 I recently did as blog on Blake Shelton's new song and that it had some "Country Rap" infused in it. Well, Blake Shelton is not the only artist to bring "Rap" to the Country Music forefront. In fact I seem to recall that the first time I heard a country artist do a "Country Rap" song was in the '80's when the Bellamy Brothers released the song called "Country Rap." While the song played well on the radio, it was apparent that not many in the industry took it seriously. In the '90's Neal McCoy gave it a go, with his song called "Hillbilly Rap."
May 8, 2013 This past weekend I made the trip north of Abilene to Strawn TX. to Mary's Cafe'. Mary's boasts they have the largest chicken-fried steak (CFS) in the Lone Star State. Mary's also has one of the most extensive menus I've seen, five full pages to be exact. If you want a steak, Mexican food, fish or a big ole hamburger, you're going to find it here. The chicken-fried steak is what I was after and I'm about to get me some.
May 7, 2013 The new Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban collaboration was just released and it caught me by surprise. As I watched, it was becoming pretty predictable. The story follows a girl who is upset, jumps in her car with cell phone in hand and as she's driving she's constantly distracted by text messages. As I anticipated, she is in an accident, but that's where all the predictability ends.
May 5, 2013 My daughter Angie just started gymnastics classes, and with that comes the excitement of a 10 year-old little girl, wanting to show me every jump, twirl and leap. She has been online to check out other gymnasts. That's when Angie showed me this video. I couldn't believe my eyes that I watched it several times. Although this video is from the 2008 Junior European Championship games in Turin, I think it's worth watching.
May 2, 2013 Miss Suzie is a sweet little lady that only weighs 46 pounds. She's a black, white and tan Beagle, Basset mix. She has an extremely sweet personality and has already been taught to sit, stay and shake. Christy an Animal Control Officer said "Suzie was an owner turn in, simply because the owner could no longer afford to feed herself let along her dog too. So after eight years Susie's owner brought her here to the Animal Control Shelter. She needs to go to a good home."

April 29, 2013 After writing hits for The Band Perry and others, The Henningsens are climbing the country charts with their own song "American Beautiful" title cut from their forth coming C.D. (due to arrive in stores July 2, 2013.) Brad Paisley likes this group so much, that he put them on his "Beat This Summer Tour." The Henningsens are Brian Henningsen on bass guitar, vocals and the father of 10 including eldest son Aaron who covers guitar and vocals while daughter Clara takes lead vocals and plays guitar too.
April 28, 2013 This year marks the 31st annual Cinco de Mayo celebration in Abilene at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church. Abilene's biggest Cinco de Mayo is the love and labor of the St. Vincent's parishioners. Pascual Mirelez owner of Mirelez Productions says "this is a family friendly event that features a softball tournament, dozens of food booths, bounce houses, children's games, bingo, adult games and lots of live music. The event is mostly free with the exception of food and games."

April 25, 2013 A couple of nights ago I was watching Jimmy Kimmel Live on television and they were doing a bit called "Lie Witness News" where the reporter asks people what they think about bands that don't exist. I had never seen the skit before and thought it was hilarious. Then I got to thinking, "I wonder if they could get away with something like that here in the south."
