In that song Randy takes the girl and shows her "How Country Feels." Now with his second single from the 'How Country Feels' album, Houser takes his girl to the country and romances her under the star, "Whoa...Girl Every now and then you get a night like this...Whoa...This is one that we don't wanna miss," I think you get the idea. Nonetheless Houser feels as if he's 'Runnin' Outta Moonlight.'
February 19, 2013 It's planting season once again and this year you can give your home that 'professionally landscaped' look, with help from the Abilene Public Library and Scott Warren, director of landscape and grounds at Abilene Christian University. The theme for this years workshop is, “Put Color into Your Landscape.” By using a wide variety of low maintenance perennials and annuals, Warren says he'll show you some easy ideas and shortcuts that help in keeping a well maintained landscape looking great.
February 19, 2013 Gary Allan climbed to the top of the charts with his last single ‘Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)’ and without so much as taking a breath he releases yet another song that I predict will own the top of the charts as well. Allan's new song titled 'Pieces' boasts that he's given 'pieces of his heart and pieces of his soul to lovers and friends and that's what made him who he is today.' It's unusually uptempo but good and yet another release from his latest album 'Set You Free.
February 19, 2013 With the Academy Awards coming up on Sunday, February 24th. The Abilene Community Theatre (ACT) will be rolling out the red carpet and hosting an "Oscars" like party at the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in downtown Abilene, complete with entertainment, food, beverages, decorations and more. All this is being done to announce the 59th season of the Abilene Community Theatre, Sunday from 2:00 PM till 5:00 PM.
February 18, 2013 We all know the dangers of texting and driving, yet many still do it. There are those that say "I only do it at stop lights" whatever the excuse is, the fact still remains texting and driving can have deadly results. Research has shown that high school and university students are more inclined to text while driving. That said, to better educate their students, Texas State Technical Institute has secured the Texas Reality Education for Drivers (RED) simulator. Students (or anyone for that matter) that would like to take the RED for a spin can, starting at 10:00 AM Wednesday at TSTC Abilene.
February 18, 2013 Eric Church is currently leading the way with nine nominations for the 48th Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMA), Sunday April 7th. 2013. Eric is up for Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, twice nominated for Song of the Year (as artist the other as composer). Church also picked up nods for Single of the Year, Video of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year for “The Only Way I Know” with Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. The "Springsteen" singer was not nominated for the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award, nonetheless Eric Church is leading by three nominations.

This weekend West Texans are in luck because the Silver Spur Gun and Blade Show is back, February 23rd and 24th at the Taylor Country Expo Center. The Silver Spur folks also invite vendors of all kinds from handmade arts and crafts to jewelry and survival gear.

The Kiwanis take much pride in the fact that they donate monies and assist many local charities with the resources raised for the Chili Day and Auction.To purchase tickets to the event, simply ask a Kiwanis Club member or get them at the door.
February 18, 2013 In what sounds like an old Jackson Browne or Bob Segar remake, Gretchen Wilson has hit her mark with the first released song "Still Rollin'" from her upcoming album titled "Right on Time." From the very start of the song, it sounds as if it came straight off of a Browne or Segar album, but it didn't. In fact, Gretchen and her longtime friend and fellow songwriter Vicky McGehee, wrote the song. Now, the last big news we heard from Gretchen Wilson was in 2009 when she opened her new record label Redneck Records. Today, 2013 promises to be her biggest year ever.
February 14, 2013 When I first came across this I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to be a shooter or the pilot. I think, this is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It's called "Gnat Shooting" and it's like Skeet/Sporting clays, but instead of shooting at little orange clay discs you're shooting at a 'drone airplane' loaded with pyrotechnic charges on-board. When you hit the drone it will either explode a cloud of white smoke or a 'direct hit' will down the airplane. These ATS Gnat Shoots have become very popular sport that charitable organizations are using them as fundraisers.

Zach Harmon is a home town boy that knows all the back roads of Abilene, the way of life and the west Texas pace and Zach does an excellent job painting that picture, in his latest single 'Those Stars Still Shine.' The second you hear his song, you're sent back in time remembering all the old landmarks and things you did. As I listened I found myself smiling, remembering the old Town And Country Drive-in and how much simpler things were back then. Zach Harmon's got a hit song on his hands and as soon as you hear it, you'll agree.
